Fasting Mimicking Diet Day 2

My weight dropped 3 pounds after the first day of the fasting mimicking diet. Here’s how it’s going on day 2.

Fasting Mimicking Diet Day 2

I was expecting to lose weight due to the calorie and carb restriction associated with the fasting-mimicking diet, but I was not expecting almost 3 pounds! Especially considering I still drank my normal 3.5 liters of water.

As mentioned, I am also tracking my fasting glucose and ketone numbers first thing in the morning. Today, my glucose was actually higher but still in the normal range. Ketones went up slightly but are not yet in the ketosis range.

Ketones0.4 mg/dL+0.2

I was also surprised that I was less hungry when I woke up than I usually am on a high-calorie diet. And I still haven’t had any severe hunger pangs or cravings.

Today’s meal plan has slightly fewer calories than day 1, so seeing how hungry I get will be interesting. I’m approaching lunch, and I can feel some hunger creeping up.

Here are the meals for today. The main difference is that there are no crackers for lunch and a vegetable glycerol and water mixture (L-Drink) that I’m supposed to sip on all day.

Overall, I must admit I’m feeling pretty good. I woke up more refreshed than usual, and my wife commented that I seemed calmer and relaxed today, so that’s a plus.

Based on the way things are going, I suspect that I should enter nutritional ketosis at some point today. I’m excited to see if I notice a change, as I’m not sure if I’ve ever achieved ketosis in previous low-carb diets.

I’ll be back tomorrow to share my metrics and meal plan updates!
