It’s day four of my fall bulk phase, and my weight has reached a new high at 173.9 lbs. That’s 1.9 lbs gained so far.
Today was unusual for a bulk in that I fasted for the first 90 minutes of the day. The reason is that my wife and I made an impromptu grocery run first thing in the morning to get some items to meal prep for the coming days.
One of the items I picked up was a low-sugar syrup for a homemade protein bar recipe. The no-bake bars consist of peanut butter, whey protein, syrup, and mini chocolate chips, and they came out amazing. I’ll share the full recipe in another post.
I also completed a short but intense 30-minute shoulder workout consisting of dumbbell lateral raises, barbell overhead press, dumbbell rear delt flyes, barbell upright rows, and barbell shrugs.
Despite the slow start, I still managed to get my calories in and hit a 7% surplus for the day. Protein was right on target at 35%, while carbs were 37% and fat was 28%.
It wasn’t a perfect day from a food choice standpoint, but hitting my calorie and protein targets resulted in a successful increase in weight.
