Fall Bulk Day 35
Scale weight is down slightly, but my body feels full and tight. Let’s look at the current numbers for the bulking meal plan and workouts.
Day 35 was a Monday with an early work shift and an afternoon workout. Before I started working, I went for a 30 minute fasted walk around the neighborhood.
Then, I had a coffee protein shake for a low-carb meal to start my work day. A couple of hours later, I had a bagel for a morning snack and chicken, rice, and grilled peppers for lunch.
After work, I had protein oatmeal (proats) for a pre-workout meal and an electrolyte drink during my workout. The post-workout meal consisted of a large protein shake with a cup of granola.
I had another chicken, rice, and grilled pepper meal for dinner with a small glass of wine while we watched a movie. Then, I finished the night with a cup of cottage cheese before bed.
Here are my macros for day 35.
Nutrient | Amount |
---|---|
Protein | 268 g (33%) |
Carbs | 412 g (51%) |
Fat | 54 g (15%) |
Calories In | +3,206 |
Calories Out | -2,693 |
Calorie Surplus | +513 (19%) |
This morning, my weight dipped by 0.2 pounds to 175.7, which may seem unusual given that I ate over 500 calories more than I burned. But I wasn’t too shocked because my body still seemed to be shedding excess water and tightening up after the weekend’s festivities.
As usual, I will try not to react to this single data point even though it’s lower than I’d like. Instead, I’ll log it in my spreadsheet to include it in the cumulative weight data.
Today marks the end of week 5, so I will review the averages to determine if I need to adjust this week. Head to the weekly review page to see how I make these decisions.

Even though my weight didn’t increase, it seemed like today’s meal plan filled me out without making me feel too fluffy. I came to this conclusion based on my workout strength, pump, and the way my clothes fit.
Remember, the scale only tells part of the story! It’s essential to listen to some qualitative metrics in addition to the quantitative.
