Fall Bulk Day 34
Today I got back on track with clean eating, and proper hydration. Learn how we meal prep for the week.
It’s a December Sunday in Wisconsin, and we’ll be watching the Green Bay Packers play. But first, we have all day to meal prep because the game is at 7:20 pm CST.
The day started with a trip to Costco, which just opened in our town this week. It was the busiest store I’ve ever seen in my life! But we still made an excellent grocery haul.
My wife and I love using our wood pellet grill for meal prep. We started by marinating several pounds of chicken breasts and ribeye steaks. While those sat, we chopped and foil-wrapped squash, onions, and green beans.
Then we fired up the grill and cooked everything at 425 degrees. I put the meat on the bottom rack where the heat is highest and placed the veggie packets on the top rack.
I cooked the steaks for about 7 minutes on each side, then took them off the grill and tented them in foil. Once the steaks were done, I flipped the chicken and veggie packets.
The squash was also done after about 15 minutes, any longer, and it gets mushy. But the chicken and other veggies stayed on for about 25 minutes total.
We cooked some white rice for dinner and combined it with the steak and squash for a super flavorful and healthy bowl. Here are my total nutrition numbers for Day 34.
Nutrient | Amount |
---|---|
Protein | 257 g (34%) |
Carbs | 316 g (42%) |
Fat | 80 g (24%) |
Calories In | +3,012 |
Calories Out | -2,630 |
Calorie Surplus | +382 (15%) |
Between the grocery shopping and meal prep, it was a busy day. But the extra effort up front makes the rest of the week so much easier.
I also squeezed in a quick shoulder workout before the game, which helped my body flush out some of the excess fluids it was retaining from the weekend. I also drank a little over a gallon of water.
You would think all that water would increase my weight the following morning. But it actually helped my body return to its baseline hydration level, so my weight was back to normal at 175.9 lbs.
In case you missed the game, the Packers squeaked out another underdog win against the Chiefs. My goal for the rest of this week is to continue hitting around a 15% surplus as long as my weight stays at or above 176 pounds. Let’s see what happens!
