Fall Bulk Day 27

We drove back home after spending the week in Georgia for Thanksgiving. And I weighed myself for the first time in a week.

Fall Bulk Day 27 Weight

The drive back to Wisconsin was the second 17-hour road trip in 6 days. And this time, we were less prepared with healthy meals and snacks.

Unfortunately, I ate some fast food to get my calories in. Although I must admit, Buc-ee’s makes a mean brisket breakfast burrito that tastes pretty clean.

After a week on the road, I just wanted to make it home and wasn’t too concerned about hitting a calorie surplus or specific macros. Here are my nutrition numbers for Day 27.

NutrientAmount
Protein151 g (31%)
Carbs170 g (35%)
Fat71 g (33%)
Calories In+1,923
Calories Out-2,301
Calorie Surplus-378 (16%)

My food intake was below 2,000 calories, which is low even when trying to cut weight. Even with my minimal energy expenditure, this was the largest deficit of the bulk by far.

As a hardgainer, my weight typically drops if I don’t actively try to make it increase. After a week of not paying close attention to my diet, I was anxious to see if my weight had gone up or down.

Surprisingly, I weighed 175.0 lbs when I stepped on the scale this morning, precisely the same as a week ago before we left town. Ideally, my weight would have increased to keep pace with my bulking goals, but at least it didn’t go down.

There’s still a chance for a significant fluctuation in the coming days as I get back to my diet and workout routine. So, I’m not putting too much stock in this first weigh-in.

I am following yesterday’s deficit with a high-carb day and a larger calorie surplus. This strategy will hopefully drive my weight up to get back on track.

However, I would also not be surprised by a temporary drop as I could be retaining water from the Thanksgiving feast and high-sodium road trip foods.

So be sure to check back later this week to see which direction we’re heading and how I adjust course.
