Fall Bulk Day 22
Today was the first full day in Georgia, which presented new challenges in hitting my daily diet and activity targets.
Today consisted of catching up on sleep from the road trip and settling into a new routine. I didn’t work out for a second day in a row as we figured out the temporary gym situation.
I usually work out six days a week, but I’ve decided to take it easier due to the travel and holiday. Also, my body is probably overdue for a break after a few months of training hard. So, I’m not too concerned about losing gains.
However, my protein intake was very low today as we have been eating out more than planned. I will need to focus on getting more lean protein in the next few days.
I usually use a pre-cooked meal prep service like Icon Meals when traveling, but I didn’t pull the trigger on this trip. That would have made it much easier to eat clean and hit my protein target. Nevertheless, my in-law’s home cooking is excellent, so I look forward to the Thanksgiving feast.

This day was also about recovering from the 17-hour drive yesterday. So, sleep was a priority, and we were fortunate to have a quiet guest room in which to sleep.
As a result, I got over 8 hours of quality sleep. And my recovery numbers bounced back with a lowered resting heart rate and solid heart rate variability number.
Recovery Metric | |
---|---|
Total Sleep | 8h 24m |
Resting Heart Rate | 51 bpm |
HRV | 84 ms |
As I said, this will be a laid-back week with fewer workouts and less dietary restrictions. However, I plan on returning to the gym tomorrow for at least a short workout to get the blood flowing and prevent too much of a break in the routine.
