Fall Bulk Day 19
My weight is down heading into Thanksgiving week, which will present challenges as we travel for the holiday.
For the second day in a row, my scale weight is down. This could be due to the recent increase in stress or changes in body water levels from electrolyte balance.
I have noticed that my sodium intake was higher when my weight was up, which can cause the body to hold more water. These last two days, my sodium was lower, and my potassium was higher, which could have caused the body to shed water.
From an energy balance standpoint, my weight should not be decreasing as I hit a 12% surplus on day 19. Here are the numbers.
Nutrient | Amount |
---|---|
Protein | 250 g (33%) |
Carbs | 246 g (33%) |
Fat | 114 g (34%) |
Calories In | +3,010 |
Calories Out | -2,697 |
Calorie Surplus | +313 (12%) |
It looks like my weekly average weight is leveling off. So, this will likely be the week I need to bump up the cumulative surplus to around 10%.
However, my wife and I are road-tripping to Georgia tomorrow to spend Thanksgiving with her family. It’s a 14-plus hour drive from our home in Wisconsin.
While the holiday season usually challenges keeping our weight down, this trip will test my ability to maintain and gain weight. The main goal will be to eat enough calories from clean sources while keeping my protein intake up.
I will check in during this trip to keep you posted on the bulk progress.
